DRUCKFARBEN Group is Future-Proofing Through Sustainable Strategy

At DRUCKFABEN Group, sustainability is more than a regulatory requirement it’s a long-term strategy that guides every decision we make, across all our business units, regions, and operations. From flexible packaging inks to energy-efficient building materials and architectural paints, we are rethinking products, processes and partnerships for a better tomorrow.

The 2024 Sustainability Report reflects just one chapter in this strategy a data-driven snapshot of aligning with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS),  GRI frameworks and cross-functional collaboration aimed for long term success.

2024 Highlights by ESRS Pillar

ESRS E1 – Climate Change

Our decarbonization efforts gained momentum this year with the integration of solar power at our new ink facility in Halkis as well as Aspropyrgos in the Paints and Mortars plants , now covering up to 60% of the site’s energy in Halkis and close to 100% in Aspropyrgos. We invested in low-energy pigment grinding systems, reducing emissions and improving production efficiency by 25%, while also transitioning to electric forklift fleets across multiple sites. At the product level, our launch of PU Ultima, a NC and PVC-free ink series, marked a major leap toward low-VOC, circular-ready printing solutions for the flexible packaging industry.

ESRS E2 – Pollution

Pollution prevention is a cornerstone of our R&D roadmap. We’ve expanded our portfolio of NC-free inks and water-based, low-emission architectural paints, including WOOD SHIELD™ Color Base, compliant with EN 71-3 safety standards and with Bio Base. These innovations are backed by solvent recovery systems and updated handling protocols that minimize chemical discharge and promote responsible manufacturing.

ESRS E5 – Resource Use and Circular Economy

Our sustainability strategy emphasizes resource efficiency across the product life cycle. In Romania, we reused over 420 IBCs, saving 26,000+ kg of plastic and in Greece we collaborated with Thrace’s In the Loop project. These actions, along with the development of mono-material compatible inks, support our commitment to closed-loop packaging and product circularity.

ESRS S1 – Own Workforce

In 2024, all of our employees received Health & Safety training, and we recorded zero workplace accidents and 699 accident-free days across our production sites. Over 170 colleagues participated in professional development programs, with a special focus on ESG awareness for managers. Looking ahead, our Sustainability Managers are undergoing formal training by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) in 2025, equipping them to drive impact across every site and department.

ESRS G1 – Governance

We have institutionalized ESG governance through the creation of a Sustainability Committee, comprised of executives from Operations, R&D, HR, Legal, Finance, and Procurement. This committee collaborates closely with our Board of Directors, where sustainability and CSR are core agenda items at 100% of meetings. Our commitment to ethical conduct, transparent tax practices, and responsible sourcing also earned us a Bronze EcoVadis rating, validating our progress and providing a solid benchmark for the years ahead.

As we look to the future, our goal is to lead with purpose and continuously innovate toward a climate-resilient, circular and inclusive economy.
